Has your RS4 Pro been able to consistently deliver power? I rented an FX30 for a shoot, and I seem to only be able to control, but not charge through the provided DJI cable. I'm wondering if its the cables or if its the actual port on the gimbal. Any thoughts?

We all work differently. As a photographer starting in film days I was a very early digital adopter for magazine features. I also branched out into video to make DVDs on then digital video. Personally I always find it much easier to have my video bodies set up for video and my stills bodies set up for stills. I dislike having to switch from video to stills on the same body mid shoot. It just presents too many opportunities for errors in settings when switching quickly. Back when the 5DmkII emerged on the scene I had three. Two set for video with different lenses and one for stills that I could switch lenses on to suit. It was a tip from Shane Hurlbert who said when making movies with the 5d II as DP if he needed to change lenses he’d rather have a spare body ready to pick up and immediately continue shooting.

How are you focusing ? Are you using your hands or any follow focus systems?

Am happy with my nikon even if I get bullied for using nikon and not sony 😅. I don't haye any camera brands. But I hate hardcore sony fanboys. Give me any camera and I will use it. Each brand have their strengths and weaknesses. Its all about what works well for you

Hey Jason, great take on the Sony 20-70mm. I know its a year old but I just got my hands on an A7IV (body only) and I'm looking to buy my first lens. My options are either the Tamron 28-75mm G2 or the Sony. I would consider myself to be a street/travel photographer. Any advice?

Micro HDMI is fine if you have a cage with a locking HDMI port.

How do you know if it’s charging? I don’t see a light indicator or anything when I’m charging it.. I have to turn it on to see if it’s charging

Very informative. It puzzles me that EVERYBODY talks about, the necessity of ND filters and the 180 shutter-rule. Can’t you get as good as a motion blur in post (like Davinci Studio)? One would be more flexible and wouldn’t have the hassle with the NDs all the time. Hardly anybody talks about the negatives/restrictions of using an ND filter like, color-casting, vignetting, not being able to use polarizers with a variable ND filter which is usually less of a quality anyway, bad stabilizing results, etc. If the motion blur is only done in post, without NDs, how good and easy is the result of a proper motion blur and quality?

The monitor and control feature isnt for client monitoring. It's for exposure control and settings adjustment on a larger touchscreen device. Useful for multi camera interviews when theres only one shooter. Or for a live stream event where the switcher can change exposure settings if needed away from the camera.

Was it just me, or did the first 4k and 8k side by side comparison seem to be better on the 4k side of the action 4? Looking at some of the boats, they seemed to be clearer on the 4k and more distorted on the 8k. Seemed to me that way at least. Anyone else notice?

3:16 The reason why it's ISO 100 and 2000 with s-cinetone is because that's what the sensor is actually driven at. Slog 3 is a log gamma function which in this camera boosts the brightness by 2.5EV while in other sony cameras it does it by 3EV. Meaning when you're using slog3 in ISO12800, you're actually driving the sensor at 2000 ISO. You can test this by shooting photos at ISO 100 and 2000 then slog3 video at 640 and 12800. Once graded you'll notice the exposure looks exatcly the same.

What wouldnyou say are the best settings for dji 4 to record outdoors?

The comparison you did regarding colors is actually super interesting for general optical quality, looks like they improved a ton compared to the older 3 lenses. The 75 looks by far the best, the 16 is also a bit soft but I can't see the CAs that the other 3 have. Looks like 75 >>> 16 >>> 33 > 23 >>> 56. I wouldn't consider these for an everyday lens like a 23mm that is on the camera a lot but certainly for niche focal lengths like 16 and 75, they seem very nice without breaking the bank.

Good hard work. However you forgot to test them by walking with it. Some Sony Mic make sounds or capture body finger movement. You also forgot to trst the Azden smx-30 which beat all these microphone. It is real mono with the shotgun mic directional and capable to remove side sound AND it is also stereo to record music with auto on/off, +20/0/-10, filter. It has also a absorber of shock so you can manipulate the camera without recording the sounds of the body. It is much more heavy though than these small Sony and Rode mic. But it is better quality to my opinion, and you need the stereo cable, it is not digital. It could be less practical on the gimbal.

You're buying a sensor wrapped in a computer that costs much more than a high-end laptop. With the new AI capabilities of software to enhance photos and videos, you can save money and use what you can comfortably afford without going into debt. I'm using a Nikon D7200, Sigma lens, and Atomos Ninja; it shoots perfect video.

I think that for most people who just want an action cam to pick up and stick onto their helmet, or at the end of a stick to record fun family moments, the DJI has gotta be the choice. Because most people aren't gonna know how to color grade, aren't gonna have a boom or lav, arent gonna zoom in to 15x to look and see how sharp their image is, and arent even gonna OWN 4k screens.
